Margaret Garrett

Margaret Garrett lived in Oak Ridge, TN with her husband Merrill Garrett and their son Gordon during the Manhattan Project.

Before moving to Oak Ridge in 1944, Margaret Garrett worked for the Alcoa Corporation in Alcoa, TN. She became active in the Oak Ridge community, and was responsible for setting up the first elder care facility in the town. She also worked to improve relationships between Oak Ridge and surrounding communities. Gordon Garrett remembered: "My mother was quite a lady. She did a lot of things – things that are even still there today."
