Harold Evans

Harold Evans was an American chemist.

Evans was born in 1907 in Brazil, Indiana. He received a B.S. and an M.S. from Michigan State University.

In 1943, Evans was hired to work on the Manhattan Project as a junior chemist at the Chicago Met Lab. He was one of only a few African-American scientists to work on the project. He remained in Chicago after the war at the Argonne National Laboratory, where he researched the chemical relations of radioactive elements. He went on to become a member of the American Chemical Society and the Science Research Society of America.

Evans died on July 28, 1995 in Macclenny, Florida.
