John L. Tucker

John Tucker was a member of Project Alberta, dedicated to the ensuring that an atomic bomb device could be dropped by an aircraft. This assignment led Tucker to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Los Alamos, Wendover, Utah, and Tinian Island in the Pacific. He was recruited into Project Alberta by its leader, Lt. Cdr. Norris Bradbury. While stationed at Los Alamos, Tucker would frequently travel to Wendover, Utah to train the 1st Ordnance Squadron in the disassembly, inspection, and assembly of the bomb. Tucker's experience at all of these different locations was very rare as security concerns typically limited each individual's exposure to the Manhattan Project process.
