Doris Dixon was a laboratory assistant in the Chemistry Division of the University of Chicago’s Metallurgical Laboratory (“Met Lab”) during the Manhattan Project.
Colonel Franklin Matthias (1908 – 1993) was the officer-in-charge at the Hanford site. Matthias, a civil engineer, had been a close associate of General Groves since the beginning of the Manhattan Project, and was asked to review sites in the West.
Stanley Stief attended Pennsylvania State University. He remained in the Oak Ridge area, working first for the government and later for Union Carbide.
