Edward B. Doll earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering. Doll worked on Project Alberta in March of 1945. He was the Fusing Team Leader. Project Alberta was part of the Manhattan Project that was created to help plan and carry out the necessary steps for making the atomic bombs functional. This group transported the first atomic bombs to Tinian Island. 

In 1953, Doll became the Chairman of the Physics Department at Stanford University. He also aided in an advisory capacity at the 1953 test shots at the Nevada Test Site.
