April 22, 2015 would have been J. Robert Oppenheimer's 111th birthday. As director of the Los Alamos Laboratory during the Manhattan Project, Oppenheimer proved to be an extraordinary choice. Unfortunately, after the war, the FBI dredged up his early Communist associations and his security clearance was revoked, preventing Oppenheimer from influencing policy.
